The Séraphine Coat is AQVAROSSA'S key statement coat.  In a fitted straight column shape with accentuated collar, belt and jumbo covered button, it combines sharp tailoring and details with heritage fabrics.

Designed in a monochrome 100% virgin wool Prince of Wales check, the piece adds modern sensibilities to this revered fabric, long associated with heritage and craftsmanship.

How to care for your new AQVAROSSA piece

If you are not wearing your AQVAROSSA garment for a few months, it is best to keep it in a cool, dark and dry place. Ideally, the garment is dry-cleaned or washed by hand according to the instructions, before it is stored in a garment bag with moth repellent.

Knitwear is best laid flat to keep it in shape. Use the self-cleaning powers of our wool: simply hang up your pieces in the morning mist or in a steamy bathroom, and the natural fibres will clean themselves and make creases disappear.

Prince of Wales Check

Prince of Wales check is a heritage fabric with a unique and fascinating history. Despite its name it actually originated in Scotland and is registered in the Scottish Register of Tartan as “Glenurquhart Estate Check”. The pattern first came to prominence when Countess Caroline of Seafield noticed it being worn by local men in clothing designed to withstand the harsh Scottish winters and adopted it as a uniform for her grounds staff in smart suits made of local wool. It remained a local fashion until a visit from the then Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) who liked the design and went on to wear it so much that it acquired its new name.

Our Prince of Wales cloth is made from 100% virgin wool by a historic Italian woolen mill. This family run business combines meticulous attention to detail in the fabrics they produce with an unparalleled quest to be at the forefront of ethical and sustainable practices in their field.

Maker

At the helm of production for our outerwear are mother and daughter duo Anna and Dessy. Anna’s wealth of experience going back many decades, first as a designer and later in production mean she is perfectly equipped to ensure each piece is crafted with the utmost attention to detail and care. She now uses this knowledge to champion and oversees a network of trusted small family-run factories across her homeland of Bulgaria. These long-held relationships mean she is able to specifically choose the appropriate makers for each piece depending on their individual areas of expertise resulting in the finest quality of craftsmanship and finish for every garment.
